Charter
Options is a new rental option from Charter Housing Association. It
offers you range of brand new houses and apartments to rent in Newport,
Caerphilly Borough, Monmouthshire, Torfaen and Cardiff complete with
carpets, window coverings and ovens.
The
properties are rented at 5% below the rate you could expect to pay in
the private rented sector and you won’t have to pay any of the usual
sign up or administration fees that agents impose. The properties are
available to rent for an initial period of three to five years and there
is the potential to buy in the future.
Who is the scheme aimed at?
Charter
Options is aimed at people in employment and/or those who can pay the
rental charge without additional financial assistance. However, in order
to qualify, your annual basic income should not exceed £30,000.
Prospective tenants will need to provide a bond of one month’s rent plus
£100 and a month’s rental payment in advance. Future rental payments are
due monthly in advance by direct debit.
Properties are for non smokers and pets are not allowed within
apartments.
What do I need to do to get a Charter Options property?
Seen a
property you like? Then call the Charter Options team on 01633 678545.
We will take a few basic details from you before making an appointment
for you to view the property.
If you
like the property and would like to secure it you will need to pay a
reservation fee of £200. This money holds the property for you whilst
your references and financial details are checked. The payment counts as
monies towards your bond once you sign for the property.
What
checks do you make?
Prior to
us renting the property to you we want to be sure that you will be able
to pay the rental charge on time and manage the tenancy successfully. To
help us assess this we will require you to provide:
- 2
forms of identification
- 1
proof of address
- 3
months’ bank statements
- 3
months’ wage slips
- A
reference from your most recent (or current) landlord
-
Employer’s reference
It will
also be necessary for us to carry out a credit and address check.
